OCD has a way of pulling you into a vortex. The more you try to escape it, the stickier it often gets. Even if your thoughts don't make sense to you at all, your brain just won't release you from its grasp.

OCD is too often misunderstood. It's not a preference for tidiness or personality quirk. It is an exhausting, time-consuming cycle of anxiety and doubt that can make you feel like a prisoner to your own mind.

If you are stuck in loops of distressing thoughts or feel caught in loops of compulsive behavior, you aren't "crazy" or "bad." You are experiencing a treatable neurobiological loop, and you can break free from it.

How OCD Shows Up

OCD operates on a loop that hijacks the brain’s doubt and safety dials. It generally consists of two main parts:

  • Obsessions: Unwanted, intrusive, and highly distressing thoughts, images, or urges that pop into your mind uninvited.

  • Compulsions: Repetitive behaviors or mental acts that you feel driven to perform to reduce the anxiety caused by the obsession, or to prevent a dreaded event.

Performing a compulsion often brings temporary relief, but ends up reinforcing the brain's false alarm system. Over time, the loop grows stronger, consuming your energy, stealing your time, and shrinking your world.

Our Specialties

OCD can manifest in ways that feel incredibly isolating, often targeting the very things you value most. We offer specialized, compassionate care for a wide range of presentation types and related disorders:

  • Intrusive Taboo Thoughts: Safe,  non-judgmental support for distressing, unwanted thoughts regarding violence, harm, or sexuality that do not reflect who you actually are.

  • Moral or Religious Scrupulosity: Navigating the painful intersection of OCD and faith, where your mind triggers constant, debilitating guilt over perceived sins or moral failings, .

  • Perfectionistic Spirals: Breaking free from the exhausting need for things to be "just right," symmetric, or flawlessly executed before you can move forward.

  • Intense Fears of Getting Sick: Managing severe health anxiety, contamination fears, and the overwhelming urge to clean, wash, or avoid places and people.

  • Time-Consuming, Exhausting Rituals: Support for the physical or mental checking, counting, repeating, or reassurance-seeking behaviors that disrupt your daily life.

  • Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors (BFRBs): Specialized strategies to manage compulsive, automatic habits like chronic skin-picking (excoriation) and hair-pulling (trichotillomania).

Why Therapy Can Help

You cannot simply "stop thinking" about your obsessions, but you learn to beat OCD at its own game. Specialized therapy helps retrain your brain to navigate distress without relying on exhausting compulsions.

Therapy helps you:

  • Interrupt the loop: Learn to acknowledge distressing thoughts without letting them dictate your actions.

  • Build distress tolerance: Teach your nervous system that you can handle anxiety and doubt, and that the "false alarms" will fade on their own.

  • Reclaim your life: Shift your time and mental energy away from rituals and back toward the people, hobbies, and values that matter to you.

Your thoughts do not define you, and you don’t have to fight them alone.
