Hi! I'm Jessica.

I'm a clinical psychologist, and I've specialized in anxiety, OCD, and traumatic stress for 16+ years. If you are struggling with intense fears, haunted by a painful past, or caught in cycles of anxious behavior you can't control, I can help.

Specialties: PTSD & complex trauma, OCD, shame and self-criticism, ruminative spirals, overcoming intense fears, changing compulsive habits (e.g., hair-pulling, skin-picking), religious deconstruction and cult recovery.

My approach to therapy is anchored in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and a contextual behavioral perspective

This means I don't believe any human can be understood out of context. The things you think, feel, and do almost certainly make complete sense in the context of your history and current environment. Your struggle doesn't mean anything is wrong with you - you're just experiencing a mismatch between your old patterns, your current environment, and the direction you're trying to go in life.

I integrate multiple models into an overall acceptance-based, contextual frame.

  • To help you function better in the here-and-now: I use exposure-based (e.g., ERP, PE) and skills-based therapies (e.g., DBT skills, CoMB), depending on your needs.

  • To help you untangle older, deeper patterns: I use relationally-oriented therapies, such as Schema Therapy and FAP.

Whatever we do, I hope our work offers a space where you feel safe enough to take emotional risks, and in the process, discover a version of yourself that feels more connected, grounded, and free.

I'm a psychologist who was once deeply involved in the psychotherapy research world, until I fell in love with hands-on clinical work and decided to open the Anxiety and Trauma Clinic of Atlanta.

I have published dozens of peer-reviewed scientific publications on trauma, ACT, cultural competence, OCD, and other clinically relevant topics (see my publications here), but it was my experience working one-on-one with trauma survivors that led me to focus my career on practicing psychotherapy.

I've since undergone countless trainings to hone my skills at helping people with anxiety, OCD, and traumatic stress access healing and freedom in their lives. I also conduct training workshops and consultation for therapists seeking to deepen their expertise in evidence-based psychotherapy for anxiety, OCD, and traumatic stress.

As a therapist, I'm warm, practical, and super authentic. I'm not a blank slate kind of therapist - I'm a real human being in the room, and working with me means we have a real relationship. Honestly, I'm glad the culture around this has changed because I have always had a terrible poker face.

In sessions, I'm equally likely to be nerding out with you about the latest research findings as I am to be sitting with you while you tackle your biggest fears. I hope to be equal parts your biggest cheerleader and (at your request) your most benevolent taskmaster. When you tell me what you want to change in your life, it is my mission to put in my all to help you succeed.

On a personal note, I'm a mom and a dog lover, and I'm into yoga, weightlifting, and throwing pottery on the wheel. I'm also a massive nerd and love sci-fi/fantasy novels and video games.
