DR. SAHAR SABET

Sahar Sabet, Ph.D., is a licensed psychologist*** with the Anxiety and Trauma Clinic of Atlanta, specializing in evidence-based care for adults navigating anxiety, trauma, and complex emotional distress. Her areas of specialty include:

​

  • Anxiety and OCD (e.g., excessive worry, panic attacks, compulsive behavior)

  • Trauma (Traumatic stress reactions, including PTSD)

  • Maternal Mental Health (Support for postpartum depression, anxiety, and insomnia)

  • Life Transitions (Coping with grief, loss, and chronic stress/burnout)

  • Mood Regulation (Depression and emotion dysregulation)​

           Note: Dr. Sabet also offers therapy in fluent Farsi.​

 

Dr. Sabet believes therapy is most effective when it is thoughtfully tailored to each client’s unique goals, experiences, and life context, while remaining guided by scientific research. She has advanced training in a variety of evidence-based therapies, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and CBT for Insomnia (CBT-I). As a specialist in anxiety-related disorders, she is highly skilled in exposure-based therapies, including Prolonged Exposure (PE) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). She is committed to helping clients approach life with greater flexibility, mindfulness, and self-compassion.

Dr. Sabet earned her Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Counseling Psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University, where her training focused on behavioral medicine and culturally responsive care. She also holds a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Boston College. She has diverse clinical training experience in outpatient and inpatient settings, including the world-renowned McLean Hospital’s OCD Institute, where she was trained in state-of-the-art treatment of OCD and anxiety related disorders.

Dr. Sabet completed her doctoral internship and post-doctoral fellowship at UNC Chapel Hill School of Medicine, where she received intensive training in the assessment and treatment of trauma-related, mood, and anxiety disorders. Through the UNC Center for Women’s Mood Disorders, she provided specialized care for psychiatric symptoms occurring during reproductive transitions, including pregnancy, the postpartum period, and menopause. Dr. Sabet has extensive experience supporting perinatal and postpartum individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, OCD, sleep difficulties, trauma, and suicidality.

Dr. Sabet has published multiple peer-reviewed scientific articles and book chapters in the areas of behavioral sleep medicine and mental health. She values integrating current research into her clinical work and is deeply committed to expanding access to high-quality, evidence-based mental healthcare.

***Please note that Dr. Sabet is licensed as a psychologist in the state of North Carolina. For clients in the state of Georgia, Dr. Sabet is currently under the supervision of Dr. Jessica Goodnight until her license transfer is complete.
