ABOUT DR. FOULSER

DR. ALBAN FOULSER

Dr. Alban Foulser is a clinician completing her postdoctoral fellowship at the Anxiety and Trauma Clinic of Atlanta and Emory University. She provides individualized, evidence-based treatment for adults struggling with mental health concerns related to anxiety, trauma, depression, and women’s mental health, including:

  • Trauma and PTSD

  • Women’s mental health

    • Mental health concerns during or following pregnancy, including anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, trauma, and grief

  • General anxiety and worry

  • Social anxiety

  • Panic attacks

  • Specific fears

  • Obsessive compulsive disorder

  • Depression, including suicidal thoughts

 

Dr. Foulser uses a warm, relational, and trauma-informed approach coupled with evidence-based treatment modalities to treat each individual’s needs. Her treatment approach is founded on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and she incorporates her training in brief interventions and motivational interviewing to support clients in making changes that lead them to living more meaningful lives.

 

Dr. Foulser completed her doctoral degree in clinical psychology at The University of Texas at Austin. During graduate school, Dr. Foulser was trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, as well as specific training in Prolonged Exposure Therapy for PTSD, Exposure and Response Prevention for OCD, and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy for Depression. Through advanced clinical training, Dr. Foulser gained experience
treating individuals with anxiety disorders, depression, PTSD, OCD, and bipolar disorder. She also gained clinical experience treating substance use disorders and providing integrated behavioral health care in medical settings. Dr. Foulser went on to complete her clinical internship at Emory University, where she received training at Grady MemorialHospital focused on trauma, depression, psychosis, suicidal ideation, and health-related concerns such as living with HIV. She has also received training in Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD, as well as treatments for people experiencing reproductive mental health concerns during and following pregnancy.


Dr. Foulser has been actively engaged in research for years, with a focus on trauma and shame. During graduate school, Dr. Foulser studied assessments and interventions for PTSD. Based on her interest in women’s mental health and trauma, Dr. Foulser developed a compassion-based intervention for shame. She has published papers related to PTSD assessment and intervention, and stigma related to mental
illness. She is currently involved with research focused on positive childhood experiences in pregnant Black women. Dr. Foulser is also a member of the Atlanta Behavioral Health Advocates, as part of which she has published blog posts related to reproductive mental health.
